About this collection

A small collection of letters from John Hussey to Charlotte Hussey, including one to Harriet Hussey, written on his journey to Aleppo, Syria and during his residence there, January 20, 1779 to June 13, 1780.

 

Originally in the possession of Thomas John Hussey, D. D., Rector of Hayes, Kent. Purchased with other papers in two boxes in May 1855 from Thomas Kerslake, Bookseller, 3 Park Street, Bristol, from his catalogue issued in July 1828, No. 2943, by Gillyatt H. Sumner, Esq., Woodmansey, near Beverley, Yorkshire. Purchased with other MSS. on 29th March 1886 at Belfast (J.H. Smyth & Co., Auctioneers) by C.H. Brett, Esq. Presented by the same, Sir Charles Brett, to Queen's University Library on 20th June 1924.
